Tape “Spot Check” Service
Not sure what audio’s actually on your cassette tape or 1/4″ reel tape? No problem!
We’ll spot check your tape and then email you a summary description of the audio actually contained on your cassette or 1/4″ reel. If your tape contains the audio you’re hoping to restore, we’ll apply the Tape “Spot Check” Service fee towards your complete restoration*.
If it’s not the audio you’d like restored, we’ll safely return ship you tape via USPS Priority Mail at no additional cost.
Or, you may have a tape that’s damaged or has problematic audio and you’d like to know if it can be repaired and restored? With this service, we’ll carefully check your tape to determine if it can be successfully restored. If your tape can be repaired and restored, we’ll apply the Tape “Spot Check” Service fee towards your complete restoration*
If your tape is actually un-restorable, we’ll safely return ship your tape via USPS Priority Mail at no additional cost.
*Limitations & Exclusions:
1. All client tapes are ALWAYS returned without exception. We return your tape via USPS Priority Mail with tracking.
2. Our Tape “Spot Check” Service does not include audio restoration or transfers to digital audio formats. However, if we find audio that you would like restored, or we can repair your damaged tape, we’ll gladly apply this fee towards your complete audio restoration. Please note that with complete audio restorations, standard USPS Priority shipping rates apply.

4. One Tape “Spot Check” Service fee will apply for each cassette or reel tape to be spot checked.
5. Tape baking fees for Hydrolysis (tape shedding reel or cassettes) will still apply. For more info about tape baking, please visit this page:

6. We won’t audition your entire tape. Rather, we’ll “Spot Check” your tape and provide an emailed summery of what general audio is contained on your cassette or reel tape. We’ll then await your instructions on how to proceed next. If we don’t hear from you in 7 days, we’ll simply return your tape via USPS Priority at no additional charge.
7. With reel to reel tapes, our Tape “Spot Check” Service only applies to 1/4″ tape reels and not multitrack reels which are more complex to audition.
